21 Jump Street
21 Jump Street contains many sub genres that are normally associated with teen films.
Party & Music
Partying and music are the two conventions portrayed in the teen film 21 Jumps Street. This shows the sort of thing teenagers get up to during their time at college, as you really see their behaviour come out more once they're socialised with their peers. Offensive language and sexual acts are committed really reflecting on how the teenagers act.
Drugs & Alcohol
Drugs and alcohol are another common convention that may be portrayed in teem films. this tells audiences that teens can only be happy through drugs, drinking and partying etc. drug consumerism also makes drugs seem minor and very easy.
Characters
Eric Molson is the cool kid, no one gets in his way, normally chased after my many girls, the big name at high school.
Schmidt is the victim, has no friends and is always bullied, very low confidence but fancies a girl and stumbles every time he has the opportunity to ask a girl out.
Molly Tracey is the pretty, blonde girl that Schmidt fancies, blonde hair which conforms to the stereotype of teens, seen as arrogant through the beginning, and sometimes very sarcastic.
Our task is to recreate the opening of The Breakfast Club using the screenshots that we have taken and added to our storyline.
In the opening of The Breakfast Club there is a voice over of the protagonist describing the other characters before we see them separately arrive at school. The first character that arrives is 'The Princess' as she enters the scene in a BMW car with her dad. It is evident that she is a daddy's girl and is also wealthy.
The second character that arrives is 'The Brain' as he enters the scene in the car with his mother and little sister. He's the brains of the group and seems very shy and disinterested in school.
The third character that arrives is 'The Athlete' as he enters the scene in a 4x4 car, driven by his dad. The representation of the car shows that he's masculine and clothing suggests he's into sports.
The fourth character is 'The criminal' as he enters the scene walking across the road, not paying any interest to the car that approached him. This shows that he is rebellious and is socially unaware.
Finally, the fifth character is 'The Basketcase' who's seen leaving the car but there is no sign of her parents . This could suggest that she's not loved and possibly neglected.
All the cars driven were all filmed outside the school, whereas the boy walking was seen crossing the road outside the school.

The use of drugs in the film is seen to be used more sociably rather than something they would take as individuals. You mostly see this kind of act being done at parties as its a way to get them in the partying mood. Alcohol is a key prop in the film, showing that it is something essential at parties. The use of this means that their behaviour changes, either in a sexual way or violent way.
Characters
Seth's character is funny and very out-going, always up to do something. He has a crush on a girl and is determined to make her his girlfriend, whatever it takes. He tires to do this by impressing her by getting loads of alcohol for her party. His main aim was to get with the girl he was in love with.
Evan's character is shy and least confident out of the bunch. He usually goes against doing things other teenagers would do such as, drinking, smoking or even talking to girls. He also has a crush on a girl. Besides his best friend giving him ideas on how to get with the girl, he goes against it as he believe that a way to a girls heart is to tell her how you really feels.
Fogell's character is more of the nerdy and funny individual in the film. He is the brains in the group, as he helps them get alcohol because of his fake ID he had. He's very shy and not as confident, as he gets put down a lot by Seth, but this changes once he gets this "new identity". His aim was to get with a girl, and that so he did. You can see a change to how he was in the beginning up until the end.
In a film, the opening credits which are shown at the beginning feature the studio, distribution and production company, e.g. Warner Bros Company. It is the company that sold the movie into theatres, television, DVD, etc. Sometimes it is listed in the same text as the rest of the credits. Or it could be a logo or even standalone clip, such as the MGM lion roaring.
Audiences today are used to seeing the director’s name before the movie title, as the auteur or visionary of the movie. Some directors have developed such a well-known style that audiences will have specific expectations when seeing his or her name in front of the title. There’s a difference between a Tarantino film and a Michael Bay film.
THE MOVIE STARS Anywhere from one to three lead actors are often listed just before the title. It’s a similar position to theauteur, as the presence of these star actors is the reason many people came to see the movie. True movie stars transcend their producers and directors. One may think of a Tarantino film, or a Spielberg movie or Coen Brothers picture. But more likely, people are there to see a Brad Pitt, Paul Walker and Edward Norton. Their names are listed before the movie’s title, which is equivalent to having their names above the title in the movie poster.
