THE BLING RING

Genre: Teen Drama - A type of drama series with a major focus on teenage characters. 
The Bling Ring tackles the stereotypes that the younger generation face without being comedic and focusing on the genre of criminality adding a serious tone.

Themes

Partying and Music
Parties and music are the two conventions most conveyed within the movie. Use of foul language hip hop style music and constant partying involving drug use conveys the stereotypical attitude of teenagers within society. 

Relationships

Relationships are portrayed as being disposable and meaningless. This is mainly conveyed via the main character who betrays her 'friends' displaying the disposable nature of the young peoples lives. This supports the materialistic traits which cause the young people to steal.

Idolism

The young people idolise the celebrities that they steal from, seeking their fame and lifestyles. This highlights the nature of how influential celebrities are to the youth of today. 

The Breakfast Club Remake

We re-made the opening of 'The Breakfast Club', in order to do this we recorded things in college to imitate, the corridors, trophies, cars and some of the characters in the opening of the film. We used final cut pro to add the music also, the voicer was used with a camera which had a mic attached to it, in order to make it as good as possible we used american accents.

Stereotype: A widely held but fixed and oversimplified image or idea of a particular type of person or thing. 

Stereotype can be portrayed in teen films in the way the characters dress, who their friends are or the location they hang out with their friends.
Examples of this could be:

Jocks

Jocks are center of attention in high school and get the most female attention by the girls. There's always one person that the best at the sport and win the game every time they play a opposing side. Jocks are usually found in the gym or on the field practicing with there friends. If they aren't wearing leather clothing, they wear baggy baseball jackets.

Cheerleaders

Cheerleaders are usually the prettiest girls in the school. They have the good figured body and tease other girls who doesn't match up to them. They wear tight clothing, usually revealing and seduces the boys with their features. They are found in the canteen area or usually in the corridors always in groups.

Nerd 

Nerds are usually been taken advantage of due to their smartness. They usually get bullied and picked on by the popular people, but they are their to help them with their work etc. They dress very formally and different to the others in the school. They are usually found in classrooms doing extra work.

Explanation of opening credits

There are some standards to opening credits, but some minor variations do exist typically when giving more prominence to a more famous person.

Distribution - The company is different from the production company; e.g. 'Distribution Company Name Presents' - Distribution companies are responsible for the marketing of films thus are recognised in the opening credits

Name of production - Company/companies (always respect the people with the money); e.g. 'A Big Name Production' - opening credits usually name the most significant people/companies that were involved in the production as they contributed the most money towards the film 

Director - (This is optional); e.g. 'A Ridley Scott' - the directors name is usually there as an acknowledgement of their work towards the film. For example, it would state, 'A Martin Scorsese picture' 

Top Billing Actors - (Listed in order based upon their personal fame and prominence in the movie); e.g. sometimes a big name with a smaller part can receive top billing. Equal billing is given when two actors are listed at the same time the name on the left is considered the 'slightly' more prominent name unless the name on the right is slightly 

Key cast  - ('Introducing..' for an actor's first appearance on screen; 'And..' is reversed at the end to showcase a big name actor with a small role, or 'with..' is used to showcase multiple names.
